Features
Setting temperature
Temperature can be infinitely varied over a range of 120 to 1300°F (50 to 700°C) at the joystick on the LCD control panel. The actual temperature is measured at the nozzle outlet and indicated on the display. The joystick is an input button with a plus/minus function. Briefly pressing the "+/-" joystick increases or reduces the temperature in 10° steps. Keeping the joystick pressed speeds up the temperature setting process.
After setting the temperature, the tool takes a few seconds to reach the assigned temperature (depending on speed/airflow). The set temperature will be shown on the display for 3 seconds, followed by the display showing the current actual temperature of the heat gun. The "°F/°C" symbol will flash until it reaches the selected temperature. To alter the setting, press the joystick again to increase or reduce the temperature. After switching off, the hot air tool stays on the last temperature setting.
Double insulated tools
Tools marked with the words "Double Insulated" come equipped with a two prong plug. These tools have an insulation system that complies with applicable UL standards, meaning they do not require grounding. "Double Insulated" tools, like this one, have two prong cords and can use either a two or three prong extension cord.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). In order to reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug fits in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fully fit in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not work, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.
Setting airflow rate
First, press the "airflow" button: this will cause the fan button to flash, meaning the joystick can now set the airflow rate. The airflow rate setting mode automatically disengages if the airflow rate setting does not change within five seconds. Pressing the airflow button again after setting the airflow rate closes the airflow rate setting mode. The airflow rate can be varied from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 13 CFM.
Programming mode [P]
Besides normal operating mode, this heat gun has four factory-set programs for the most common jobs. Press the "P" button to access programming mode. The number 1 is for program 1, and continuing to press the program button cycles through programs 2 to 4. Pressing the button again will return the tool to standard operation. See Preset Programs in the Specifications tab for details.
Memory function [S]
The values selected for the four programs can be changed and memorized by the device. To do this, press the program button "P" until the display shows the program you wish to change. Set the required temperature and airflow rate. The memory symbol on the LCD flashes to indicate that the selected user program has changed. To memorize this setting in the user program, press and hold down the program selector button. The memory symbol continues to flash for approximately two seconds, and the settings save once the memory symbol stays on. To return to standard operation, press the program button until the program symbol disappears from the display.
Residual heat indicator
The residual heat indicator displays a warning to prevent injury from direct contact with the hot nozzle outlet. The warning symbol will flash until the temperature at the nozzle outlet has fallen below 140°F (60°C) at room temperature. It works after 90 seconds of heating and functions when the tool is unplugged. No indication will show if the heat gun has been operating for less than 90 seconds. The thermal cut-out will completely shut down the heat gun if it overheats.
Responsibility rests with the user. Care must be taken at all times when handling hot air tools.
